The Snowball Express picked up 10 Utah families on the way to Dallas/Fort Worth, where more than 1,600 children and parents from across the country and overseas are headed for holiday fun. The special holiday trip serves as a healing experience for children and spouses of service members who have died in active duty since Sept. 11, 2001. Eleven chartered American aircraft departed from 87 cities throughout the world. Snowball Express flights are made possible by the American Airlines Kids in Need program, which provides worldwide support for children and their families and for organizations dedicated to improving the quality of life for children.https://www.ksl.com/...4589&nid=148http://www.good4utah...erland/878435093

Chilly weather means the start of plane deicing at the Salt Lake City International Airport. When it’s cold enough for ice to accumulate on an aircraft, deicing crews spray the plane with glycol-based deicing fluid prior to take-off. The glycol is then collected and travels through more than 5 miles of drainage pipes to the Airport’s deicing fluid reclamation facility. From there, the fluid goes through an extensive recycling process. Recycling deicing fluid is just one of the ways the SLC Airport works to preserve valuable resources.

The road leading to the Salt Lake City International Airport has changed.Terminal Drive had been diverted with one lane splitting off to the left leading to the Economy Parking Lot and the other lanes splitting off to the right and leading to the parking garage, rental car return and terminals.
The road shift is necessary to cordon off space needed to begin infrastructure work on what will become an elevated roadway for the Airport Redevelopment Program. As part of The New SLC, the elevated roadway will lead to an upper level for passenger drop-off, while the at-grade, ground level roadway will be used mainly for passenger pick-up. This road configuration is expected to minimize curbside congestion.
Here’s a map that shows a detailed look at the diversion.
