You can now catch an Uber to and from the airport!
Pick-up is from Lane 1 in the airport forecourt and Level 2 of the T4 Transport Hub.
Timeline Photos

Alan Wilson - Just make sure you get picked up at the "Pink lane 1 Public pickup zone" and not the "Blue groups and charters BUS zone" directly across from it, can't stress that enough.

Rex Morrow - Melbourne Airport supports the world's greatest tax dodging PONZI scam. Approves of slavery, for that's how Uber regards it partners. Hopefully at least Brisbane will lose the title of #uberrape capital of the world and Melbourne can take over the mantle

Alastair Jesse - Yeah after a international flight, you can get some hassal free transport home if you live less than 10ks from the airport. Taxi drivers only have themselves to blame

Melbourne Airport
Taxis have blockaded Melbourne Airport’s main forecourt. This is having an impact on vehicle movements through the forecourt.

We’re advising the following:
- Any passengers catching a departing flight tonight, we’re recommending you head to the airport earlier than you might have been planning to, to allow for any delays on the roads into the terminal.
- Anyone who’s expecting to pick up an arriving passenger tonight, first check the Melbourne Airport website to see the most up to date flight information. We’re also recommending drivers head to the airport earlier than they might, and to use the free Ring & Ride wait zone if they arrive with time to spare. To find the Ring & Ride, take the T4 exit off the Tullamarine Freeway, after Mickleham Road if you’re Sunbury bound.

For any arriving passengers who have been affected by the blockade, we’re advising them that they can depart the airport on a SkyBus service to the city that is free of charge, which Melbourne Airport is paying for. We’re deeply appreciative of the great work SkyBus is doing to help with this situation.

Kelvin Woo - I have to walk all the way from T2 to T4 to get on staff bus after finished a tired shift tonight at airport. because taxi blocked the road..piss off! if they could use same effort to improve their shitty customer service instead of this useless protest, will be a better choice for them. welcome to the real business now, u have competition like any other industry
2 days ago
Tim Vega - I know I'm biased for what I'm about to say, being an Uber driver. However this is the vibe and common complaints I get from passengers who prefer Uber > taxi: -People don't like being ripped off - drivers going the long way or just plain incompetence of map reading. Having lived in Tullamarine, before Uber existed I had to take cabs occasionally from the airport and without fail, cabbies either fob me off or get irate when I tell them where I have to go and try sneakily using the freeway. - lack of friendly customer service. I know as a passenger, when I get cabs, the driver is usually talking on the phone to someone else and I feel uncomfortable or alienated. It doesn't take much to provide a friendly greeting or small conversation if need be. Even if a passenger wanted silence, I at least acknowledge their presence. - cleanliness. Many passengers complain how a taxi smells from not being properly maintained and cleaned. - discrimination. As mentioned, I used to get dismissed from drivers because the length of the fare is "too short". I'm sorry, I didn't realise your job was cherry picking good fares. Your job I thought was providing personal transport no matter how long. Also, I've picked up people of colour, and get told how they get discriminated against by being ignored a fare based on their skin colour. - driver fraud. I've picked up people who've mentioned how the driver doesn't match the ID showing on a taxi dashboard. I was shocked that illegal activity like that was happening. I remember there was a social media campaign - #RateMyTaxi - and people flooded the tag with negative experiences. The thing that Uber do a much better job is accountability - the 2-way rating system, where drivers and passengers rate each other based on the experience. If there was a negative experience, it's easier to report with the app compared to the arduous task of calling customer service of taxis. It also incentivises both drivers and passengers to be on their best behaviour. I can sympathise slightly of having your livelihood threatened by competition. However the taxi industry is in dire need of an overhaul and change, that I'm not currently seeing or hearing - there may be drivers doing the right thing, so too are there many bad drivers tarnishing the taxi reputation. Having said all that, if people need airport pickups, hmu or inbox.

Mansour Haydari - it's very bad that the taxi corporation doesnt provide good service and proper fair prices as the money spend can go in to our own economy. However due to this taxi cunts, customers choose to pay Uber due to their cheap prices but the tax money goes to US instead.
Jose Diaz Guevara - Yes get a UBER if you want to contribute to a foreign country economy in this case USA, for every dollar you pay in UBER 25% goes straight into that economy , beside each dollar you expend in a local taxi 100% it's expend into the Australia market, free market in economy every dollar counts you choice...

Rob Nelson - And they want us to feel sorry for them. They need to remember who the customer is and work out how to provide actual customer service. Spend money on training and improvements and you won't have to fight for customers.

Andrew Hobbs - Seriously, no sympathy for the taxi drivers. Last time I was there I needed to go only a short distance to a meeting at Tullamarine. Waited 20 minutes for a taxi, got in, told him where I wanted to go. He kicked me out and made me get another taxi, making me late for the meeting.
