Cardiff Airport is the gateway to Wales, handling over a million passengers a year with over 50 direct routes and more than 900 connecting destinations worldwide through hubs including Amsterdam Schiphol, Dublin and Barcelona. It is situated in the Vale of Glamorgan, just 13 miles from junction 33 of the M4 and around 30 minutes from Cardiff city centre. In March 2013, Cardiff Airport was bought by the Welsh Government. Since then the Airport has undergone a number of changes and improvements to improve and enhance the customer journey.
The Airport Security Manager is a key post in the Airport with responsibility for managing the entire Security operation. This will include ensuring compliance with Civil Aviation Authority/ Department for Transport regulation and leading and managing on the Airport’s Security Programme.
You will have experience of managing large teams of staff, organising complex shift rosters and be able to maintain a calm presence in pressure situations. You will be required to ensure a high customer service focus is maintained at all times of the team and have high levels of integrity and trust. Confirmation in post would be subject to successful CTC clearance and achieving Level 3 in the DfT’s Security Manager’s course.
The airport operates on a 24/7 basis and flexibility will be required. You may be required to work weekends and to attend at short notice for operational reasons, for example special events and adverse weather conditions.
The successful post-holder will be subject to completion of pre-employment screening to Cardiff Airport’s requirements before being confirmed in post. This includes a DBS check to comply with Department of Transport regulations.
