Another new air service to Scotland has been announced.
Loganair will fly between Edinburgh and Ronaldsway.
Loganair’s service will start on Friday, May 26, operating up to four flights each week throughout the summer on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Friday and Monday services will continue into the winter season, with fares starting from £54.99 including a free-of-charge 20kg checked baggage allowance. Loganair will operate under its franchise agreement with Flybe – with bookings taken Flybe’s website – until August 31. From September 1, the airline will be flying in its own right and the new route is currently bookable via its reservations system at http://www.loganair.co.uk and call centre on 0344 800 2855. The new Edinburgh to Ronaldsway service follows the recent closure of Manx-based ticket provider Citywing, reducing connections between the Isle of Man and Scotland. Four years ago Flybe dropped a service between the Scottish capital and the island. Jonathan Hinkles, Loganair’s managing director, said: ‘We’re thrilled to be returning to the Isle of Man after an absence of nearly four years. Our new Edinburgh service will provide much-needed weekend flights between Scotland and the island.’

THIRD ROUTE FROM THE ISLE OF MAN ADDED BY EASTERN AIRWAYS

Eastern Airways has announced a third route from the Isle of Man, operating to Glasgow, less than two weeks after securing the future of the island’s routes to Belfast City and Newcastle.

The UK regional airline, which moved quickly on Monday 13 March 2017 to provide a continuation of links to Northern Ireland and North East England, following Citywing’s liquidation, will also offer a daily weekday service to Scotland with a new Glasgow route.

The Glasgow service will be introduced from Tuesday 2 May 2017, using a 29-seat Jetstream 41 aircraft.

Monday to Thursday flights will depart the Isle of Man at 1.30pm, arriving in Glasgow at 2.20pm. Services will leave Glasgow at 2.50pm, arriving in the Isle of Man at 3.40pm.

Friday services leave the Isle of Man at 8.15am, arriving in Glasgow at 9.05am. Flights from Glasgow depart at 9.35am, landing in the Isle of Man at 10.45am.

The Glasgow flights are on sale for the Isle of Man TT races.

Fares start from £59 one way, including taxes and charges and are bookable via http://www.easternairways.com , calling Eastern Airways on 08703 669100 or through your travel agent. Complimentary drinks are provided on board the flights.

Mathew Herzberg, Head of Commercial for Eastern Airways, said: “Our first aim was to protect vital routes from the Isle of Man to Belfast City and Newcastle. However, we are now pleased to be in a position to link the island with Glasgow again. The timing also enables us to offer a direct service from Scotland over the busy Isle of Man TT period so motorsport and TT fans won’t miss out.”

Ann Reynolds, Director of Ports, Isle of Man Airport, said: “A link between the island and Scotland is very important for the Isle of Man, for both the business and leisure communities. An early re-start of the route is vital for not only the day to day requirement but also to ensure availability for hosting the Celtic Media Festival in early May and for the TT.”

Passengers flying with the airline are not charged for check-in, baggage or choice of seat. Hold baggage allowance is 15kg per person and hand luggage allowance is 10kg per person. Those with fully flexible tickets are entitled to 2x 23kg hold bags. Check-in opens 90 minutes before the flight and closes just 30 minutes before the departure time.

Eastern Airways has been operating for 19 years and had operated services to and from the Isle of Man between 2004 and 2009. It has a fleet of two Embraer 170 and three Embraer 145 jets, as well as nine Saab 2000s and is the largest operator in the world of Jetstream 41 aircraft with 17.
